Mourning Morning Music Album Review _____________________________________________________ "One Amazing O.C. Songwriter!"  Next Time
you're mucking about Itunes do a search for "Mourning Morning" and treat yourself to a tease of this newly released album via the "She Stole My Records " label.If you find yourself compelled to purchase the entire CD as I did don't sweat it. it's well worth your time and money. Delivering an eclectic array of nicely written well produced tunes, this break away debut album is one of the best offerings I've come across in quite some time. 
The Artist skillfully coveys with almost haunting veracity the emotional roller coaster that is true love gone awry, and the subsequent pain and hardship that must be endured.I Enjoyed how the album seemed to evolve, each song morphing down a different genre laden path yet steadfastly staying on the true course of inevitable tumulchous heartbreak and dealing with the fallout. Melodious harmonies accompany Insley as he belts out genuine signature vocal caricatures that are not just sung, but are seemingly released with guttural rasping conviction leaving the listener embellished with a most euphonious experience.  I Like the fact that piano and harmonica are used sparingly, but to great effect giving definition to the songs that portray them and allowing the gritty or cheeky guitar chops (depending on the tune) to reign supreme and do their twangy gitar like thang. The Tasty guitar riffage throughout is dripping with a unique candor that creates and thus adds a subtle complexity to the songs. With Insightful lyrics flowing with articulate prosody, you get the story in both poetic and melodic coda. For example The first line of "Sister", (One of my personal favorites), sets the pace with exquiste prowess: "Hold Your Breath Under Water - For As Long As You Can - Maybe Then You'll Appreciate - Simply Breathing" Now that's a way cool opening lyric!

Lyman Insley's Mourning Morning is not some band's recording project yielding lackluster cliche ridden arrangements for egotistical posterity. This is a personal work of art derived from a dark passionate quest that needed to be exposed and revealed before any real healing could be attempted to fill a void of emptiness that only true love lost can create. There is great depth and substance here, something that is so often missing from most of todays young artists. The overall intensity and attention to detail makes it obvious the Artist went to great lengths to capture what he was trying to get out and was not going to settle for anything less then the torment of perfectionism could muster. Word on the Street is, Insly is in the process getting his band together meaning he might be taking his songs on a rode trip. Check out the website and if you see he 's coming to your neck of the woods, get the CD or buy your individual favorites, get fimiliar with them and go see this prolific singer songwriter while he's still relatively obscure and approachable. You're bound to be moved.
